IN AN ERA WHERE THE VOICES OF PARENTS ARE INCREASINGLY SIDELINED, I STAND BEFORE YOU NOT JUST AS A CANDIDATE, BUT AS A FELLOW PARENT, DETERMINED TO RESTORE THE BALANCE IN OUR EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM. MY CAMPAIGN IS DEEPLY ROOTED IN THE BELIEF THAT PARENTS ARE NOT MERELY PARTICIPANTS BUT ARE CRUCIAL DECISION-MAKERS IN SHAPING THEIR CHILDREN’S EDUCATION. WE ARE AT A CRITICAL POINT IN HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FACED WITH A CHOICE: EITHER WE CONTINUE DOWN A PATH WHERE PARENTAL INFLUENCE IS DIMINISHED AND GOVERNMENT OVERREACH IS UNCHECKED, OR WE PIVOT TOWARDS A FUTURE WHERE PARENTS ARE RIGHTFULLY ACKNOWLEDGED AS THE PRIMARY ARCHITECTS OF THEIR CHILDREN'S MORAL AND ACADEMIC GROW
I FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT OUR EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM SHOULD FOSTER INNOVATION, CRITICAL THINKING, AND A STRONG FOUNDATION IN ESSENTIAL SKILLS, RATHER THAN SERVING AS A BATTLEGROUND FOR POLITICAL AGENDAS. AS YOUR SCHOOL BOARD REPRESENTATIVE, I AM COMMITTED TO ADVOCATING FOR POLICIES THAT ENSURE QUALITY EDUCATION IN ENGLISH AND STEM, STAUNCHLY OPPOSE ANY FORM OF POLITICAL INDOCTRINATION, AND UPHOLD FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY TO RESPECT THE HARD-EARNED CONTRIBUTIONS OF HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY’S FAMILIES.

WHAT ARE JEN‘S PRIORITIES?
- POWER BACK TO THE PARENTS In recent years, we've seen a troubling decline in parental involvement in education, a trend that became glaringly apparent during the peak of COVID-19. As a parent, I witnessed firsthand the issues stemming from this disconnect. It's imperative to have a School Board member who not only encourages but ensures parents have a decisive voice in curriculum discussions and the broader challenges facing our public schools. We need a representative at the table who is a parent themselves, someone who understands the importance of transparency and direct parental involvement.
Parents shouldn't be kept in the dark; they deserve a powerful voice in shaping their children's education.
- Maintaining Fiscal Responsibility I'll say it loud and clear: No New Taxes for Hillsborough County Schools. Why? Because throwing more money at a $4 billion budget without a clear plan is like pouring water into a leaky bucket. It's time to fix the holes first. We need to get real about where our money's going. Well-funded schools and fair teacher pay? Absolutely. But blind spending? No way. Let's demand transparency, scrutinize every dollar, and make fiscal responsibility our mantra, not an afterthought. When families are struggling with rising fuel and food prices, it's not just smart; it's essential.
- Going Back to the Basics As custodians of the nation's 7th largest school district, our mandate is clear: prioritize high-quality education in English and STEM, and unequivocally reject political indoctrination. It's time to refocus on equipping our students with critical thinking and problem-solving skills, essential in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. We're not just teaching subjects; we're preparing the next generation to lead and innovate. Our classrooms should be hubs of learning, not echo chambers of political rhetoric.
Let's stand firm for an educational system that prioritizes real knowledge and practical skills, ensuring our students are ready to excel in a competitive global landscape. This commitment is our legacy for a stronger, more capable future.
- Addressing Transportation and Infrastructure Neglect Every morning, our kids navigate treacherous, dark sidewalks and dodge potholes – a glaring sign that
the School Board's priorities are all wrong. We're not just short on school bus drivers; we're down by 200, and don’t get me started on the lack of crossing guards. This isn't a minor oversight; it's a major failure in ensuring our children’s safety. We can't keep turning a blind eye. It’s time to demand action and hold the board accountable for securing safe, reliable transportation and well-maintained pathways for our students.
Let's fix this now – because our kids’ safe journey to school is as important as their education.
